** Summary changed:

- regression hardy xserver radeon resume from mem on compaq nc6230 white screen
+ regression hardy xserver radeon / fglrx - lockup - crash - fail to resume
from mem

** Description changed:

- This is NOT the same issue as is currently being reported with the
- Ubuntu screensaver where the cursor is visible. Resume from disk works
- properly. System is up-to-date. I can tell the system is running
- otherwise after resume. If I switch consoles CTRL F1, etc, the screen
- goes black for a second again and back to the white screen, same if I
- press the laptop lid button to shut the screen off / on.
+ White screen on resume from memory using open source radeon driver:
+ Compaq nc6230. This is NOT the same issue as is currently being
+ reported with the Ubuntu screensaver where the cursor is visible.
+ Resume from disk works properly. System is up-to-date. I can tell the
+ system is running otherwise after resume. If I switch consoles CTRL F1,
+ etc, the screen goes black for a second again and back to the white
+ screen, same if I press the laptop lid button to shut the screen off /
+ on.

The white screen doesn't seem to be drawn by software. After a couple
of seconds of the pure white all four corners of the screen darken a
  bit, towards the center.

If I go to a console and blindly login, and stop kdm, the boot splash
comes on and then I go back to the active console and the console is
restored. The other consoles show corrupt characters, or the background
blinks. I can restart X at this point and it shows up properly.

I tried booting with a older kernel and the issue still occurs, I also
tested with compiz disabled. This leads me to believe this is related
to the xserver. Also for $hits and giggles I tested in Gnome with the
same result. I briefly tested with the ATI driver via "Restricted
Driver Manager" and got the opposite, a black screen after resume. I
also tried changing many settings in /etc/default/acpi-support without
- success.
+ success. Replacing xserver with Gutsy's version works around the issue.

Output of lspci -vvvnn is attached.
