lincity-ng crashes very frequently.
At least one of the crashes was from this issue. 
I have only been able to play for a few minutes without crashing.
Maybe it is easier to use lincity-ng since it is easier to install.

If you want to try with mythtv you maybe only need to install the mythfrontend.
It will complain that there is no backend but the user interface should launch 
and you can just keep starting and stopping  the frontend till you get a crash.

My case is a little different from Mario. I usually crash when starting
mythfrontend. It'll crash 2-4 times in a row and then it will start up
correctly. Once I get mythfrontend started it doesn't usually crash when
starting or stopping video playback.
