This is definitely OT, however you can simply see what intel driver you have by issuing lsmod |grep iwl and then remove the listed module via rmmod (or modprobe -r) this way sudo modprobe -r iwlNNNN or sudo rmmod iwlNNNN then sudo modprobe rtl8187
