Actually, I don't think such an indication is absolutely necessary. Ordinary users are not encouraged to use pre-release versions, as the matter of fact they are even advised not to do so. Anybody using pre- releases (and so subject to the possible inconvenience) is actually a tester, and testers are supposed to track the release schedule, or at least be aware when the final release is out.
My point is: such notification would be of no use for regular users, while testers are supposed to be able to care for themselves.
