Public bug reported:

In the boot menu I chose install kubuntu, and formatted a partition that had
ubuntu 7.10 installed on it. The installation process failed as the progress
bar in "Installing system" message box reached 63 % (It failed twice at this
point-also when I tried to install from the KDE4 session).
An error message appeared at this point saying that an Input/Output error has
occurred, either in my CD or my hard disk. I checked the CD for defects and
none were found.

The installation disk is kubuntu-kde4-rc desktop i386 .

** Affects: kubuntu-kde4-meta (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
