Further testing with RC-1 (on same system as above): I conducted further testing using version RC-1 on the 19th of April. The results are as follows:
1) The regular desktop (Gnome x386) still does not install, but now exhibits new symptoms. The live CD now makes it to displaying the desktop, but then locks up immediately, or at the very beginning of the install. This was tested approximately half a dozen times, and failed each time.
