Public bug reported: I downloaded & installed the 8.04 release candidate and noted the following problem:
After the default installation and switching to nvidia driver using the hardware applet, I have some problems with the screen resolution and refresh rate: 1) By default, Ubuntu uses [EMAIL PROTECTED] which flickers very much and destroys my eyes. (I think a 85 Hz mode should be selected by default) 2) So I tried to change the resolution to [EMAIL PROTECTED] using System / Settings / Screen resolution. Now, there is the option "Clone screens" - I don't understand this because I only have one screen. At the 1280x1024 resolution, the refresh rates 51 Hz and 50 Hz are possible which is incorrect because when I use the "50 Hz", it uses 75 Hz in real (according to my eyes and the monitor menu). When I switch to 1152x864, I can select 57 Hz or 56 Hz and I have to select 56 Hz to get 85 Hz in real. This is really weird. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- wrong refresh rates shown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
