Public bug reported: For 8.04 Hardy Beta Server (version current for 17-Apr-2008) changing console (ctrl-alt 1, ctrl-alt 2, etc.) causes the text to disappear resulting in a blank screen (except for the cursor). Changing back to the original console does not cure the problem. Typing on the keyboard will cause the cursor to move about the screen (in large increments), but no text is visible.
The console may possibly not be accepting input when this occurs. Attempting to do a log-in and shutdown (by typing in the correct key sequence) did not work (several attempts were made). This was found while editing a config file with nano. When I switched back to the console which had nano, the portions of the screen which are in reverse video to display the menu options were visible, but only as white blocks on a black background, and with no visible text. (Nano is mentioned to assist in the description of the problem. This is not being reported as a nano problem). This occurred while testing installation of Hardy. The hardware is a Via Epia Mini-ITX PD6000E. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Hardy Server] Changing consoles causes screen to go blank, requiring reboot. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219064 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
