You know what, thanks for getting back to me on this, although it was a long time ago. And by reading the other posts, I did figure out the RAM issue, now I feel bad that I did not go back and post how I got around that, which was (drum roll) I just was more patient and let it finish. Ubuntu actually runs fine on that lap top and I use it as a test maching for this embedded blah blah you don't care.
Later I liked it so much I put it on another lappy with more ramey and ... UBUNTU ROCKS ! :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Артём Попов" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, April 17, 2008 12:50 AM Subject: [Bug 184182] Re: Ubuntu would not install Hi, Donna! Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. Actually, your laptop did not have enough RAM to run the Ubuntu installer (384MB is required for Ubuntu and 256MB for Xubuntu): https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements But when you were installing Xubuntu, it did create a swap partition on your hard drive, and the next time you rebooted with Ubuntu livecd, the swap was detected and used automatically. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid ** bug changed to question: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/29983 -- Ubuntu would not install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184182 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Ubuntu would not install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184182 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
