Public bug reported:

Yesterday, I tried two times to install hardy beta from the cd on two
differents machines. In both cases, the install process stops with no
error message, only the waiting mouse cursor turning again and again.

Steps to reproduce :
- start the livecd and run the installation tool on a machine where windows xp
is installed
- at partition step, choose "manual"
- delete the windows partition and create all the required partitions for ubuntu
- apply the changes

A workaround that works for me was to
- killall ubiquity
- killall parted_server
- killall partman
- do the changes with gparted
- run the installation tool again

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
