some way of manualy configuring your hardware and preferably both from term and gui must remain , there is some hardware ( one of my monitors for instance) that does not report itself via edid and therefore is never configured correctly , I freely admit this is due to cheap non compliant hardware but there must remain a way of handling that kind of hdw because there is a lot of that out there . I hand edit my xorg.conf but this is beyond a lot of people so please keep the necessary tools avaiable.
