Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a backtrace following the
instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload
the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly
help us in tracking down your problem.
If this is not crashing in Ubuntu 7.10 or 8.04 I am afraid not so much
effort will be put into fixing this, but if you help out with the above,
the chances will be greater.
