Exactly the same problem over here. And I also believe, that this bug is critical.
I even changed to xfce4, because I thought gnome was broken. (nautilus accessed a host with one (of five) "permission denied" nfs shares. This resulted in a gnome desktop, where nautilus started 2 minutes later, than the rest. And in a gnome desktop, where every 10 minutes (after the automounter automatically umounted the shares), I experienced 2 minute timeouts, when opening local(!) folders.)
