Some more additional info : - I restarted my computer with a Gutsy liveCD where sound works. Attached a copy of my /proc/asound. - Attached a copy of my /proc/asound under Hardy, so that you can make diffs.
The main difference I see is that the IRQ assigned to the sound card has changed between Gutsy and Hardy. The content under /dev/snd is also not the same between Gutsy and Hardy. Under Gutsy : total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 8 2008-04-13 12:36 controlC0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 7 2008-04-13 12:36 pcmC0D0c crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 6 2008-04-13 12:36 pcmC0D0p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 5 2008-04-13 12:36 pcmC0D1c crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 4 2008-04-13 12:36 pcmC0D1p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 3 2008-04-13 12:36 seq crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 2 2008-04-13 12:36 timer Under Hardy : total 0 crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 0 2008-04-13 12:51 controlC0 crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 4 2008-04-13 12:51 hwC0D0 crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 24 2008-04-13 12:51 pcmC0D0c crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 16 2008-04-13 12:58 pcmC0D0p crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 25 2008-04-13 12:51 pcmC0D1c crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 17 2008-04-13 12:51 pcmC0D1p crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 1 2008-04-13 12:51 seq crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 33 2008-04-13 12:51 timer We can see that the device hwC0D0 has been added. ** Attachment added: "Copy of /proc/asound under Gutsy" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13406866/asoundgutsy.tgz -- SoundMAX AD1988B- no digital audio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213206 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
