Some more additional info :
- I restarted my computer with a Gutsy liveCD where sound works. Attached a
copy of my /proc/asound.
- Attached a copy of my /proc/asound under Hardy, so that you can make diffs.

The main difference I see is that the IRQ assigned to the sound card has
changed between Gutsy and Hardy.

The content under /dev/snd is also not the same between Gutsy and Hardy.

Under Gutsy :
total 0
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 8 2008-04-13 12:36 controlC0
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 7 2008-04-13 12:36 pcmC0D0c

crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 2 2008-04-13 12:36 timer

Under Hardy :

crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 33 2008-04-13 12:51 timer

We can see that the device hwC0D0 has been added.
