I have the same issue with all of my external Harddrives. I now have a /media/
directory full of those appended underscores.
This does not occur with internal harddrives however.

Here is output from terminal

$ df -h

/dev/sdc2              14G  3.3G   11G  24% /
varrun                1.2G   88K  1.2G   1% /var/run
varlock               1.2G     0  1.2G   0% /var/lock
udev                  1.2G   96K  1.2G   1% /dev

/dev/sdf1             299G  234G   65G  79% /media/FreeAgent Drive_____

output from /media/ directory:
$ ls /media/
200GBSATA FATDRIVE_ FreeAgent Drive NTFS DRIVE
250GBSATA FATDRIVE__ FreeAgent Drive_ NTFS DRIVE_
cdrom FATDRIVE___ FreeAgent Drive__ NTFS DRIVE__
cdrom0 FATDRIVE____ FreeAgent Drive___ NTFS DRIVE___
cdrom1 floppy FreeAgent Drive____ NTFS DRIVE____

Additional info about build:

~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:    Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release:        8.04

$ uname -r
2.6.24-16-generic

If anyone knows how to fix this that would be great.
