I'm having the same problem. Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 Kernel 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Card ID 0bda:8187 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
I can't use wifi even when i'm really close to the AP. I can connect once, then I have 70-80% packet loss when pinging the AP IP address, then after some minutes connection dies completely and only come back after a restart.
