Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic
After install latest patches and rebooting the system does not boot and stops @ point "waiting for root file system". Prior to that I see messages that CPu1 not initialized etc. while trying to boot from 2.6.24-16-generic Again rebooted and chose an older kernel 2.6.24-15-generic. Same problem. Again rebooted. This time turned of and turned on. hard reboot. Same problems. Again rebooted and choose 2.6.24-12-generic. Booted successfully. Ran initramfs-update: update-initramfs -kall -u Rebooted and choose, 2.6.24-16-generic failsafe. Got the option to resume boot. Choose resume. Boot successful. So, the bug might not be in the kernel itself, but maybe update- initramfs is not running or the update-manager is not running update- initramfs. Let me know if you want me send any specific logs. I'm not sure where to find them. cheers! ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Initrd images not updated after installing updates including kernel 2.6.24-16-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216158 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
