I found out the reason, which was that my partition table contained
"overlapping partitions". However, more information about the error
should be displayed, as both fdisk and parted is able to retrieve the
information. Any feedback and tips provided to the user during the
installation process would be helpful.
I've since repartitioned, and the installer is working well now.
