Hey, guess what? After today's "partial upgrade," this problem has actually gotten worse! Now when I try to enable desktop effects (at ANY level), not only do they definitely NOT turn on, but I lose all my window borders too. And jockey-gtk still crashes. Oh, and compizconfig- settings-manager is totally gone, and apt decides to uninstall compiz when I try to get it back. Can someone maybe look into this?
