Restarted on recovery mode and after scanning the drive fsck said:
"unattached inode 506228"

UNEXPECTED INCONSISTANCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY

fsck died with exit status 4

after running fsck manually and answering yes to all the answers, the system 
rebooted normally, so you can close these bug. 
i'll recommend that a note is added to the usplash screen saying:
"if your system reboots automatically, please restart your ubuntu in recovery 
mode and run fsck manually"   (OR SHORTER :D)
