Hi Juan. Sorry, but either you misunderstood my question or I expressed myself in a bad way.
I wait for the drag-and-drop move to complete before doing the paste. The file/folder does then indeed not exist anymore, but nautilus (as James hinted - thanks!) does not realize this, and tries to paste the file/folder that no longer exists.
