I'm having the same problem, only mine is 100% guaranteed to crash when the "new message popup" shows. The best info I can get, regarding verbosity, is "Segmentation fault (core dumped)"
I've also looked at the /var/crash folder and there's only one file in there that pertains to Thunderbird. (See Attached) I then followed with removing all extensions from Thunderbird, and it would appear that it's a theme I'm using that's causing the trouble Cylence Theme (Ver. 2.0) Hope that help. Also should I report this bug to the theme creator? ** Attachment added: "Thunderbird Crash Report" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13310775/_usr_lib_thunderbird_thunderbird-bin.1000.crash -- Thunderbird crashed when new message popup arise https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154978 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
