hmm, remembering to have written this ... maybe the comments are
attached now to another report.

 - silc-toolkit is not needed by pidgin, it's explicitely disabled in the 
configury.
   did this change?
 - is debian report #273871 still valid?
 - if finch is accepted it introduces duplication into main, e.g. irssi, does 
have the
   same functionality. which other packages are candidates for demotion into
   universe?
