I have the same error, my /dev/sdb{1,3,5} partitions are not recognized. I have a feisty system in that disk (I boot hardy from sda1, but need sdb1 where all my music, videos, etc are stored), I found a temporary fix:
sudo hdparm -z /dev/sdb This will force a kernel re-read of the partition table of the specified device. This bug started to happen when /dev/hd?? files were changed to /dev/sd?? files although I use IDE hard disks. udev version is: 117-4ubuntu2 -- doesn't create /dev/sda[123] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212248 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
