Public bug reported: lots of updates today, so i updated and started the install.
the install halted and warned me that my custom printer config was going to be overwritten. fine with me so i click continue. another prompt warns me that some packages will be removed (fast-user-switching, nautilus, alacarte, others that i dont remember maybe ten total). and the installation eventually halted. when i did a follow-up update, update manager warned me that it could only perform a "partial" upgrade. when i reboot, login leads me to a brown screen (no X session). i checked and found that ubuntu-desktop had been removed during the process. i tried "apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" and have several errors for missing dependencies that "will not be installed." (nautilus, alacarte, i think libgnome was in there) thats a VERY harsh upgrade bug! i can provide more info, but i'm noobish, sry ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- latest update removed packages, uninstalled ubuntu-desktop, cant boot into X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/213567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
