Using Xrandr works perfectly and gives me dual head! I was very well aware of the Xrandr extension, but since I had to tweak the output pipelines using the --crtc switch and manually add SubSection "Display" Virtual 3200 3000 EndSubSection to /etc/xorg.conf, I gave up on Xrandr too early in the first place. In general I'm a friend of not editing those files that get generated by distribution specific tools.
Instead I used the old school Xinerama style which seemed to me being the style Ubuntu Hardy expects by exposing the "displayconfig" GUI. I simply wasn't aware that Xinerama support is not only deprecated, but broken in these intel drivers. As such I would have appreciated very much if "displayconfig" would have warned me as Bryce suggested. -- [Hardy] Xinerama crashes X-Server on GM965 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212231 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
