That was it (in my case, of course, unsure about the original submitter's). ifconfig was showing the interface as wlan0_rename (before the suspend; after waking up ifconfig didn't show wlan<anything>). Anyway, I implemented the workaround describe in 183968 and sure enough it fixed the problem. Thanks!
