I've subscribed to bug 162654 and will watch for it to go into a fixed status. I'm happy to see if Hardy will fix it once it is incorporated and on the livecd and I myself have no need for it to be patched into Gutsy. Having read (admittedly, quickly) the description and comments around 162654, I'm not convinced that it will correct the problem, but then I guess the proof of the pudding in the tasting :)
