Knowing that this comment might not be very helpful, but I just wanted to let you know I hit the same problem with my ACX100 card. Please let me know if I can be of any help fixing this issue. I abandoned the network manager and tried ifconfig and iwconfig to connect to my WEP secured network. The system did not freeze , but I wasn't able to connect. I got a "wlan0: duplicate address detected" in my kernel log. Looking through the kernel log I saw that there are two acx drivers loaded, one acx_usb and another one acx_pci. Could this be part of the problem?
