Ok. I was finally able to resolve this problem to some extent. Cleaned up dmesg greatly by adding "lapic" to the kernel line in kernels 2.6.22-14 and 2.6.24-12.
Also changed a config setting for cpu to "custom" in the system bios. Finally ran "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. An xorg.conf file was written to /etc/x11 where previously there had been none...only something in /usr/share/xresprobe....I believe. Anyway dmeg looks much better. Synaptics touchpad is finally scrolling and 2.6.22-14-generic seems good. Still no sound in kernel 2.6.24-12. ** Attachment added: "dmesg" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13126270/dmeg-2.6.24-12-generic -- Hardy Heron Loading hardware drivers failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
