Not sure if I have the same issue, but using Hardy, and my approx 100GB
collection of mixed FLAC, ogg, mp3 and m4a, it hangs on start up
sometimes.

If I run in debug mode on the command line, I can see its slow progress
through the collection and, if I leave it for a very long time, it
eventually comes back to life, so not a real hang. However, this is
obviously a serious bug, since the app is unusable for two hours. For
some reason, subsequent restarts once this barrier is crossed are
quicker. Rebooting the computer, then starting rhythmbox returns to the
old situation of slow startup.

There are apparently no errors thrown out, just traumatically slow
scanning. I have an XFS home, and I'm running tracker.
