Etienne, Some KDE errors would show up in ~/.xsession-errors. Ubuntu has excellent documentation about debugging X at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Debugging. Some notes about debugging KDE can be found at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=236065. It seems that it might be easier to clean your home directory to solve your problem. Bram
