I have this same problem. Left clicking on Network Manager shows both Wired and Wireless selected. But the Wired connection is grayed out since I'm not connected to a wired network. Right clicking on Network Manager and selecting Connection Details tries to display info about the wired connection and since I'm on wireless it show 0.0.0.0 for all the information. I'm running an up to date Ubuntu 8.04
