I think moko doesn't draw widgets correctly. The GDK documentation + example 
code for composited widgets indicates that a colormap needs to be applied to 
the parent widget, and there needs to be a callback to draw the transparent 
background on the parent widget:

I've attached a patch to moko that fixes the 'white screen' problem in
Moblin Media. I've only tested it with moblin-media and the first test
case in bug 202046, but it worked for me in both places.
