IIRC the syntax already existed in 0.5.10, but didn't work. It was finally fixed in [1] last November. We use hal 0.5.11RC2 now, where it works properly. Since current hal-info also uses int_outof extensively, it's quite important to have that working. If you need to use 0.5.10 in the current openSuSE, then maybe you should apply above upstream patch?
