I just noticed something on the machine that does run the -12 kernel. I
installed startupmanager, like I have on the box that is affected, and I
told it to show text upon boot, and set the resolution to anything
higher than the default. Although there was boot text at the resolution
I asked, I no longer had console text for a ctrl-alt-fn virtual
terminal. I just hit return to original to see if that restore VT, and
it did. I have not been able to confirm this on the box I first noticed
this behavior on. When I tried such an experiment on that box, I tried
using update-grub to restore the grubs menu, that did not appear o fix
the issue. Still odd that this only happens with this kernel. Curious to
know if you MCAS use startupmanager?
