Public bug reported: Trying Ubuntu 8.04 beta (was just updated) on my notebook (ASUS A3f. intel 945GM w/ realtek/HDA). I`ve noticed that sound isn`t very loud and tried to adjust the volume. The main Vol. fader makes no effect. The real regulation is seems to be made with Line In fader, and there`s settings which makes the output overload (near the mid position, if higher the sound is disabled). PCM-2 fader cannot be moved, it jumps into full on after release. This is when the OSS ALC660 (?) mixer is used. When switched to ALSA PCM ALC861 front playback, the only MAster vol. fader is there and works. Sound was produced with Flash plugin in Seamonkey. All system outputs was set to PulseAudio.
Same thing happened when playng mp3`s with Audacious if the ALSA output was used. Audacious vol. fader wasn`t fuctional. When switched to Pulse audio output plugin this fader works. I remember similar behaviour with ALSA on previous ubuntu versions and wonder this bug is still here. So, there`s something wrong with outputs. Also It`s unclear why OSS mixer ever works while PulseAudio is used, there`s too few controls with ALSA and the whole thing looks strange. I expect all the faders work as they named and positions is correct. Also there must be some distinction between used sound systems. hal-device output is in attach ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: alsa audio pulseaudio -- Incorrect audio mixer behaviour https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210227 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
