Hello. I have the same problem (Realtel 8139). I can tell that after clean installation of Hardy Beta (or Alpha 6) orthe NIC works fine. It stops working after the update (if I recall correctly it is not a kernell update, so idk why). So, it is recognized (I can see it in lspci -vv output), you can change configuration, but it's not working -- you can't ping anything from Network Tools. Sorry that I am not experienced enough to explain properly.
