Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I'm running Ubuntu Hardy Heron Beta, upgraded from Gutsy.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card
and using the latest 169.12 drivers installed using EnvyNG. I am using
compiz as window manager and emerald as decorator on my Gnome desktop.

I am also using two monitors, configured as TwinView: my laptop's
1280x900 capable LCD and a 1680x1050 capable 22' Samsung Syncmaster
external monitor connected via VGA. The 22' monitor is the one I use as
primary display and the LCD clones its output to the extent it can (it
displays the 1280x900 pixels at +0+0 of my whole 1680x1050 desktop).

The problem is: when I maximize windows, they do so but just to a
1280x900 size, and not to the whole 1680x1050 resolution I'm using.

If I switch to metacity as window manager (using the fusion-icon panel
applet, for example) now windows are properly maximized to the full
1680x1050 desktop resolution.

This same problem when maximizing windows does also happen whenever, for
example, watching fulscreen videos with totem or mplayer.

Please find attached a picture of both monitors showing this bug report
in a maximized firefox window. It is really maximized for my laptop's
resolution and not my monitor's which IMHO what's really expected.
