Game servers don't just eat resources and open a potential security hole, (Your
tremded package is years old), but they also cause headache for other people.
The tremulous master server has a constant list of un-configured, useless
servers in it, causing spam and wasted CPU cycles. It will also be causing a
large amount of wasted bandwidth for the server, which in some places can be
charged by the byte. (Laptop on a mobile phone link could be very expensive).
Also, when people install this package there intention isn't to run a server
for the world, its to play with there friends on a lan. The package you have
is not at all suitable for a internet server, there are countless bugs and none
of the features required to administer a server. The client package already
has the ability to do this, so this package is obsolete, and should be removed.
(In my opinion.) At the very least it shouldn't announce its self to the
internet by default, and preferably not run at all.
What percentage of people with it installed even know it is running?
