When you switch from X to any other console does that console display your login prompt or is the screen blank? I think this might be related to a problem I'm having lately. I've not yet filed a bug report. I was looking to see if there was one already filed.
When I switch from X to another console the screen on that console is blank except for a cursor that is randomly positioned on the screen. There is otherwise nothing on the screen. There is no command prompt. When I first noticed this bug I could not move between consoles at all. I've since been able to do that but I don't get any kind of command prompt on consoles 1-6. I am able to switch back to 7 (and X) however.
