I agree totally. My Radeon Mobility 9600 card (already reported above)
works fine with compiz, especially with EXA acceleration and migration
heuristics set to greedy.

The proprietary driver though (v Catalyst 8.3) has at least the
following problems in compiz:

* 'jerky' window animations

* pixellation occurs when expanding the video window (eg to full screen)

* the video playback frame rate is too slow to be watchable

* last time I tried, resume still didn't work

Doesn't it go against the philosophy of Ubuntu to force people to use
proprietary drivers, especially when the open source ones work (and in
this case, work better)?
