I have the same problem, but it does no occur when streaming to a remote PulseAudio sink over the network (the receiving machine is running Gutsy). Also, I have so far only experienced the problem in MPlayer, not VLC nor Firefox. I can get MPlayer to work with OSS (and pasuspender) without stutter.
