I have experienced this issue on a Gutsy machine. I have attached a ZIP file of two TIFFs that cause it for me. I took a backtrace while it was hanging and it appears to be happening while scaling the images into thumbnails. This only happens when nautilus is set to "View as List"; "View as Icons" works fine.
