I'm not the author of prevu, but I believe this is a feature, not a bug. If prevu automatically backported build dependencies, you might end up replacing several critical core packages and break your system. Prevu requires a user to manually backport any required build dependencies, and this has the effect of forcing the user to really think about whether it is safe to do so.
There may be another reason prevu does not automatically backport build dependencies: simplicity. Writing code to detect unsatisfied build dependencies may not be trivial, and the author may not have had time to implement such a feature. You may want to file a wishlist bug requesting such a feature. In your specific case, notice lines 311-312 in your log file: The following packages have unmet dependencies: pbuilder-satisfydepends-dummy: Depends: libx11-xcb-dev which is a virtual package. You can try running "prevu libx11-xcb-dev" to backport this particular build dependency. Be sure to follow that by "sudo prevu-update" in order to make prevu aware of your backport.
