Confirmed. Fresh installation of beta, upgrade through Update Manager, English language pack. Suggested workaround dpkg --install --force- overwrite /var/cache/apt/archives/language-pack- en_1%3a8.04+20080317_all.deb leads to 5 broken packages but upgrade is able to continue nevertheless.
