I too confirm that this bug still exists.  I have bcm4306 rev 3 chipset
in Linksys WPC54G Notebook Adapter.  I did as mentioned in the original
report - changed blacklist to enable bcm43xx, blacklist b43 and ssb and
modprobe bcm43xx.  Then installed bcm43ww-fwcutter using synaptic and
hence the firmware.  Then (having set up my wireless essid and WPA etc.)
wireless worked.  However, it still needs essid and WPA set up using
iwconfig every bootup to get wireless working.
