Public bug reported:

hello

I own an Epson Stylus cx 5900 multifunction printer/scanner/copier.

I am able to use the scanner with sane (using either xsane or
gscan2pdf), however it will stop half way through scanning and just sit
there.

I get the following dmesg output from turning on the scanner through to
me starting a scan job to it stopping

I'm using
ubuntu Hardy beta i386
sane, libsane, and sane-utils as found in the repos

along with
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/sane-backends-extras/1.0.18.12
due to this bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/180169

I have /etc/sane.d/dll.conf to only load epkowa
and the only two uncommented lines in /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf are
usb
usb 0x04b8 0x082e

along with this in my /etc/fstab file to give the scanner correct permissions
none /dev/bus/usb usbfs auto,devmode=0666 0 0

sane-find-scanner gives me
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x082e [USB2.0
MFP(Hi-Speed)]) at libusb:002:016

also, everytime I turn off my scanner and replug it into the computer so
that sane may see it again, lsusb shows the scanner under a new device
number
