I can confirm that this bug is true in the Hardy 8.04 Beta that was just released. I have a Toshiba laptop with a built-in intel 3945 wireless adapter. Fron the nm-applet I can see my neighbors' networks. Since my SSID is hidden, I have to manually configure it. When manually configuring using nm-applet OR the "network" option in System>Administration, it keeps asking for my WEP key which I type in. It acts like it is trying to authenticate, times out and prompts for the WEP key again.
