I have just changed my screen res from 1280 x 800 to 1280 x 768 and my backlight works! Sadly, the picture on1280 x 768 isn't as "sharp" or "crisp" etc as the other one, but its just about usable. Hopefully this can point us in the right direction to get a fix :D
